GALAX becomes the initial custom manufacturer to release RTX 30 LHR graphics cards. LHR stands for Low Hash Rate or Lite Hash Rate, which will reduce cryptomining hash rate up to 50 percent.
In addition to the new RTX 3080 and the new RTX 3070, GALAX is also launching its own RTX 3060 and RTX 3060 Ti graphics cards. We did not have data on the RTX 3060 Ti to be introduced as the LHR model, so this is the first confirmation that the full line (among other things) is receiving LHR updates. The only thing about RTX 3090, some of our experts say they don’t get cryptolimiter.
It looks like some board partners are slowly preparing to update their system again. MSI, for example, can start its entire formation with a PLUS moniker. Interestingly, even the Radeon series can get such a “Plus” update. However, unlike the NVIDIA series, AMD cards are not expected to deliver the same Ethereum limit, as AMD has officially confirmed that there are no such programs.
For those wondering how the new limit affects the hash rate at Ethereum, GALAX offers some statistics:
RTX 3080 LHR: 43 MH / s
RTX 3070 LHR: 25 MH / s
RTX 3060Ti LHR: 25 MH / s
RTX 3060 LHR: 20 MH / s
This should represent half of the mining performance of existing models before adjustment. Those figures are likely to increase once this optimization is implemented.
